Billings Career Center, Billings, Montana

Type of institution
Public school

The Billings Career Center offers a variety of academic, vocational, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) courses to students from the three title high schools in the Billings Public Schools.  We serve nearly one thousand students daily, and they study with us in preparation for varied university and career pursuits.  Creating a welcoming environment for students is a point of pride for the Career Center faculty.  We teach students of different backgrounds, interests, and abilities, and our student body is ethnically and socioeconomically diverse.

The Career Center was opened in the mid seventies in an effort to consolidate vocational programs in one building and minimize the costs of maintaining multiple vocational programs within one district.  In the ensuing years, our curricula has greatly expanded in response to changes in industry, technology, and education needs, and our present offerings greatly exceed those traditionally available in vocational-technical education.  Among the classes we offer are digital photography, animation, pre-engineering, environmental science, biomedical science, and numerous academics--to name but a few.
