When my brother turned 5 he got a private teacher. It was a rabbi who came to teach him Yiddish, prayers and everything else that boys are taught in cheder. Girls didn’t receive any education as a rule, but my parents made an exception for me. I always sat beside my brother at the desk when the teacher came.
