This is a photograph of my father Isaac Leon and his grandson and my nephew Niko Leon, the son of my brother Juda Leon. This picture was taken outside our house on Italias Street in Thessaloniki in 1939.
My father was very authoritarian. When we sat at the table nobody was allowed to talk. And if somebody was talking a lot, my father would tell him or her to leave the table and go sit in the kitchen.
My father Isaac was married twice. His first wife's name was Jamila Sason. One interesting detail of that period of time was that my father's second wife Riketa, my mother, was the niece of his first wife Jamila. So my mother was first cousins with my father's and his first wife Jamila's children.
My brother Juda was born in 1905. Juda was married to Victoria, nee Molho, and had two children, Niko and Nina.
