Rozalia and Alter Adler at their wedding
This photo was taken in 1955 when my sister Rozalia Rudich married Alter Adler. I remember I was in the army that year, and I had to go on furlough to be able to be at the wedding. The wedding took place in the synagogue here in Brasov, and Rabbi Deutsch married them. A big party followed. Hava Naghila was sung, and there was kosher food.
Her husband was a Jew as well. He was deported to Auschwitz, and he was the only one of his family who survived. He was a tailor, he worked at a cooperative. They had a son, Iosif Adler. Iosif married Mihaela Csisar and left for Israel in 1986, I think. As far as I know, during communism my sister didn't have problems with the letters she received from Iosif from Israel, but they weren't about politics or anything like that.
My sister and her husband left for Israel as well in 1990 because their first grandson was born, and they couldn't stay away. They live in Rishon le Zion, and Iosif is an English teacher there. Iosif and Mihaela have two children, Jonathan, who was born in 1989, and Karina, who was born in 1992. We keep in touch, my sister calls us often, it is not so expensive for her, and we also write letters when we have news. She sends me photos as well.
