I left the army in 1957, during army reduction [36]. They reminded me that I was a Jew. As comrade Khrushchev [37] said, ‘There will be as many Jewish officers in the army as will work in the mines.' And since after the war I was not planning to work in either Polish or Belgian mines, I decided they can get lost; I had my pride, I left.
