They went past where we were: from Baranovichi to Minsk. Shortly after the war with Poland, the war with Finland [see Soviet-Finnish War (1939-40)] [13] began, and my father was recruited to the army. We were very much concerned about my father, but he returned home pretty soon. The war didn't last long, either.
